Mycom has a proven track
record of providing radio network design and performance
management services throughout the world. MMycom provides these services for various technologies such as WCDMA (3G), CDMA2000 (1XRTT, 3XRTT), GSM, GPRS, EDGE, TDMA, IDEN, and GSM-R.
Mycom also has extensive experience working with
various vendor equipment types. Some of the successfully
completed projects throughout the world include projects
in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
These successes include the design of over 3000 sites,
optimization of over 2500 sites, and the performance
auditing of over 3500 sites.
The greatest asset of Mycom is our experienced personnel.
With experience across multiple technologies and across continents, Mycom is positioned to provide the right people in the right place at the right time.
Additionally, Mycom is committed to the technical
and the professional development of our engineers
making Mycom a smart decision for engineers as well
as our customers. The following sections provide a
general description of the types of radio network
design and performance management services offered
by Mycom.
RF Planning and Optimization:
The RF Planning and Optimization services provided by Mycom encompass the entire life cycle of a wireless network. Mycom has experience with both turnkey solutions
as well as focused services related to one aspect
in the life cycle of a wireless network. These services range from the dimensioning of radio resources for initial designs to the tuning of radio-related parameters after the integration of a site and on-air verification. The following list gives an indication of the different engineering activities that are performed within this service:
- Dimensioning
- CW Data Collection
- Model Tuning
- Nominal Cell Planning
- Coverage and Interference Analysis
- Search Ringso Technical Site Surveys
- Frequency or Code Planning
- Parameter Settings
- Transmission Planning
- RF Datafills/CDD Definitions
- Site On-Air Verification
- System Audits
- Network Optimization
- Network Acceptance
- OSS Support Including:
- Performance Management
- Alarm Management
- Configuration Management
Network Audits, Benchmarking, and Drive Testing:
All wireless networks can be improved. The first
step towards improvement is understanding the current
performance. Network audits, benchmarking, and drive-testing services allow the operator to measure and report on the current performance of the network. Metrics are used to define the performance, measure the quality and the coverage, and, in some cases, allow the customer to see how they compare with respect to their competitors.
In addition, beyond providing visibility into current network performance,
Mycom engineers may also provide specific recommendations on how to
improve the existing network coverage and quality. Mycom has performed
these services for over 3000 sites in the United States and over 1200
sites in Asia.

New Feature Trials and Implementation:
Mycom has extensive experience in deploying and implementing
new features for wireless networks. Our experience in the US, Europe, and Asia ranges from implementation of minor software and package upgrades for network elements to the deployment of major features such as GPRS/EDGE. Mycom
engineers understand the sensitivities and issues surrounding the trial
and implementation of new features within a wireless network. This is
reflected in the Mycom engineer work ethic and in the global corporate
values of Mycom.

In-Building Design:
Mycom has extensive experience in the design and
implementation of in-building solutions including
designs for a large number of operators in Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam,
Indonesia, and the United States. In addition to in-building design,
Mycom also supports in-door model tuning, in-door benchmarking, and
in-door optimization.

Transmission Planning:
With any transmission network there are many different
ways of realizing the connections between the main hubs/nodes and the
terminal stations. Mycom has considerable experience in transmission
planning for cellular, fixed, and trunk networks around the world. We
use this experience to take into consideration existing network infrastructure.
Our transmission planning services include:
- Creation of transmission topology drawings
- Link performance calculations for new hops
- Path profile analysis
- Channel frequency assignment
- Capacity and time slot allocation diagram
- Line of site surveys and confirmation of the design
- Detailed reporting

Regional Integration Center/Network Operations Center Support:
Mycom’s engineers have the skills and disciplines required to
be a useful component of any network operations team.
In addition to remote monitoring of the network, our engineers have supported the following activities:
- Creation of network elements for new and overlay sites
- Software upgrade of switching and radio components
to support new features and technology changes
- Reconfiguration of interface mappings for additional
capacity requirements
- Field staff support and assistance with BTS integration activities
- Datafill creation and auditing
- Rehoming of switches and base station elements
- Script modification and creation
- Definition of key performance indicators for monitoring new feature
sets
- Second and third tier support to assure prompt
and professional resolution to network problems or
outages
RF Tendering and Pricing:
Mycom International also has extensive experience
in RF tender preparation. Both operators and equipment vendors can benefit from an independent view during a tender response. We also provide assistance both in enhancing license bids and informed decision making which helps the operator make the right choice for the right network.
Following the RFQ issue to suppliers, we provide an
accurate and thorough evaluation of needs and requirements.
In addition, the evaluation report looks at current
trends, standards, and future development. In this manner, clients can then use this to aid their decision-making process when choosing a supplier who meets their current and future needs.
